Dan leads Bluecadet’s film division and oversees video production and photography. His creative vision and skill set adds a new dimensionality to Bluecadet’s storytelling capabilities.
Through his experience in commercial portraiture, advertising, and travel photography, Dan has developed an engaging style that is perfectly suited for mission-driven and cultural organizations.
In addition to capturing gorgeous film and stills, Dan excels in the use of innovative techniques and technology. Where appropriate, Dan employs aerial cinematography (using drones) and time-lapse photography to enhance narratives.
Prior to joining Bluecadet, Dan ran his own studio, Dan King Photography, working with clients such as Visit Philly, the Mural Arts Program, Puma, Philadelphia Inquirer & Philly.com, The Recording Academy, University of Pennsylvania, and DesignPhiladelphia. Dan also co-founded Good Motion Project, a collaborative video production company specializing in documentary, editorial, and aerial films for green businesses.
Dan lives in Philadelphia’s Old City with his wife Carolyn and is actively involved in the neighborhood. He sits on the board of directors for the Old City District. Dan also teaches photography at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; he created a new program on photography fundamentals and advanced techniques, teaching students to produce high-quality documentation of their artwork.
