Content Strategist

Job Summary

Focused on web-specific products, this narrative strategy role requires a balance of technical and creative skill sets to: collaborate with Bluecadet project team to define strategic goals and fitting visual and experiential expression; work closely with client to craft content and publishing strategies; implement rollout, training and hand off post-launch.

Top goals that this role will accomplish in its first year: 

  1. Successfully lead large scale web projects from visioning through production and implementation, ensuring strategic goals and content priorities remain clear and compelling throughout
  2. Execute work in a deeply collaborative, cross-disciplinary way with in-house design and development teams
  3. Support and facilitate client engagement and content development process to help our clients tell their stories better


  • Listen to and learn from clients, becoming the resident expert in their materials, contexts, and audiences
  • Plan and lead collaborative meetings and workshops with clients and subject matter experts to help coalesce the storytelling and vision and move it through design and production
  • Conduct stakeholder and audience interviews and synthesize key insights to inform project goals and priorities
  • When relevant, conduct brand and positioning audit
  • Audit and documentation of existing site, content and publishing workflows to inform project trajectory
  • Develop tone, messaging style and content publishing framework for client use and, if necessary, write clear, persuasive, original copy in multiple styles, formats, and voices
  • Collaborate closely with design team, from early stage definition of site and page structures through final design
  • Collaborate closely with development team on front end and back end content needs as well as CMS requirement and design needs 
  • Research, organize and prioritize content in support of the design approach and narrative objectives and lead or guide client in supporting this effort
  • Work closely with client on governance and sustainability planning and recommendations, formalizing these for client deliverables when appropriate
  • When relevant, plan for post-launch performance analysis and possible pathways for optimization

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of digital strategy or web content strategy experience
  • Experience collaborating closely with front end and back end developers, with visual, UX and motion designers
  • Experience with large-scale institutional web redesigns or comparable projects/clients
  • Experience leading client workshops
  • Comfort managing content in Drupal and/or WordPress CMS preferred but not required
