Project Overview

For more than 60 years, Gore has been developing technologies that protect us from the elements, save lives, and help send messages to outer space. To help Gore share their incredible story with clients, investors, and partners, Bluecadet designed a dramatic new spatial and interpretative experience at the company’s headquarters.

The new Capabilities Center combines physical and digital engagements to create a narrative arc spanning Gore’s past, present, and future. Subtle angles, color, and a sense of movement reinforce Gore brand identity, while the minimalist but flexible material palette evokes the versatility of their products. At the center of the experience, interactive media and product demonstrations illuminate Gore’s expertise, culture, and commitment to innovation.

Setting the stage

(AV01) Immersive Corridor: Visitors follow their guide into the center through a sculptural corridor lined with custom CNC-milled panels featuring integrated, motion-triggered lighting elements. The dramatic passage sets the stage for the tour, subtly introducing themes, materials, and visual effects that recur throughout the Capabilities Center.

Hands-on learning

(AV02) Advanced Materials Spiral: This intimate theatre space invites curious visitors to take a closer look at Gore’s products and gain a deeper understanding of the science that makes them possible. Entering the spiral, visitors pass by integrated display cases exhibiting a sequence of Gore products, from raw materials to consumer goods. Each sample can be placed on the central RFID-enabled table to activate a unique explainer video produced and animated by Bluecadet. The large curving projection screen creates an immersive experience for learning about the properties and capabilities of Gore technologies.

The Dreamers and Doers

(AV03) Community & Culture Wall: Gore isn’t just defined by their products, but by their people. To share what makes working at Gore special, Bluecadet produced four videos that capture the unique talents and diverse perspective of Gore associates. A combination of full-scale video portraits, traditional photography, and dynamic graphics helps visitors feel a personal connection to the company. The lattice-like installation is inspired by the unique organizational structure that fosters Gore’s collaborative work environment.

Together, Improving Life

(AV04) Team Stories: This seven-minute video, filmed and produced by Bluecadet, explains how Gore works with their partners to create products that improve lives all over the world. The stories convey what potential customers can expect when they collaborate with Gore. And the large digital screen makes a dramatic backdrop for events and presentations in the Capabilities Center.

The Past, Present, and Future of Innovation

(AV06) Product Wall: From apparel to aerospace, there’s hardly an industry that hasn’t been impacted by Gore technologies. An expansive floor-to-ceiling display of 67 product samples offers a powerful visualization of the scale and scope of the company’s work. Each industry is identified by capacitive text that, when touched, activates dynamic light trails to highlight related products. As the culmination of Capabilities Center, the interactive product wall leaves visitors with an appreciation of Gore’s past, an understanding of its present capabilities, and a dream of future possibilities.

Powers of Attention

(AV07) LOBBY: Every visit to the Gore Capabilities Center begins and ends in the lobby, which is designed to balance peripheral engagements with more purposeful experiences. A custom lattice of 13 screens, showing original videos inspired by the classic Eames film “Powers of 10,” draws the eye upward and gives visitors an overview of Gore’s impact.
