Lit Brothers v2

Lit Brothers

Digital Art and Architecture

FPO

Project Overview

Occupying an entire block in downtown Philadelphia, the former Lit Brothers Department Store is a cultural landmark that operated for nearly a century before closing its doors. Recently renovated, revitalized, and rebranded as The Lits Building, the mixed-use structure has played a vital role in the redevelopment of Philly’s booming Market East District. To cap off its transformation, we were asked to design a digital entry marquee that evokes the historic building’s early twentieth-century heyday while incorporating twenty-first-century technology. We give the massive Lits Building a clear point of entry while creating a bold new space in the public realm.

A Vivid Entrance

We designed a new canopy and signage as a natural extension of the existing street-level storefronts, creating an immediately identifiable public entrance where one previously didn’t exist.

Lits is a great example of the benefits of Bluecadet's interdisciplinary practice. With a team that includes architectural and interior designers working alongside developers, animators, graphic designers, and filmmakers, we’re able to perfectly integrate digital experiences with physical spaces or structures.”
