Founders Hall Visitor Experience

Project Overview

The Milton Hershey School, a free boarding school founded by a famous chocolatier, wanted a modern visitors center.

From early strategy to the completed installation, we gave the Milton Hershey School a new way of introducing themselves to the world. The Founders Hall Visitor Experience immerses visitors in the school’s history, from its founding over a century ago to the students who call the campus home today.

Project Videos and Images

Rotunda Dome Projections

At the center of Founders Hall is the second largest rotunda in the country. We activated its ceiling with a film that combines archival documents with custom animation to tell the story of Milton Hershey’s life and the early days of the school.

The building’s unique shape was an opportunity to experiment with projection mapping and illusions, combining classical architecture with contemporary technology.

Story Columns

Through a suite of video towers, current students share highlights from campus life. Our original video work offers a glimpse into day-to-day life at the Milton Hershey School.

Motion-activated video screens show films of student life.

Because the video kiosks are motion-activated, guests are personally greeted by the student on screen and immediately pulled into the start of a fresh story.

Interactive Yearbook

An interactive yearbook, combining a touch screen and digital projection, encourages visitors to explore the school’s history.

The large-scale wall projection responds to user feedback on the touch screen, with projected animations aligning with the more in-depth touch screen content.

Ambient Archives

Our team had the privilege of sifting through a century of school archives, pulling out photos and documents to illustrate the Milton Hershey School’s core values and continuing legacy.

Something that really resonated with me was something very close to what I say… 'What do you want people to know? What do you want people to feel?' and Bluecadet took it one step further with this: 'What do you want them to do? What's that call to action?'
